I knew years ago the necessary work that Open Arms does and I wanted to contribute a bit by representing an article through information design, making known and making visible the unfortunate data.

I've contacted with Open Arms proposing this altruistic project and they were interested in infographics based on official data of migration at sea. As they suggested, I used the identity system of their website.

I have been researching the complexity of the data collected from migrants in the Mediterranean, I decided to extract the text from the official report of GMDAC and IOM, which explains the complexity and what the data hide shown in the infographics. I felt it necessary to choose this tough matter because today there are people who question and go against save these lives, I'm trying to change this point of view with the reality impact and unite us all in the vital issue, save lives.

I have tried to humanize the data and the graphic with the illustrations, inspired by the outline of a child and with human elements such as the hands. those hands are oriented towards the route to Europe, requesting for help to this continent and to us, the Europeans.

It is a double-page newspaper layout and you can print it on A3 in your home. If you encourage yourself, take a picture and share it on social media with Open Arms!
